Hever Castle Gallery

The gatehouse and the drawbridge, the moat with the whole south front in it, the Yew Maze from above, the Loggia looking out over the lake, and the panelled rooms inside. Every photograph here comes from the estate's own images or from the operators' listings for the days Hever Castle Tours compares.

What you are looking at

Almost all of it sits inside one estate boundary in the village of Hever. The castle page names the rooms in the order the route takes them, the gardens page names the gardens, and the map page shows how far apart they are on the ground.

Photography inside the castle is allowed for private use. The rooms are lit with LED spotlights and chandeliers and a few are kept deliberately dim to protect what is in them, so the moat and the gardens are where most people get their best frames.

One photograph here is not Hever at all: Chartwell, eight miles north, which two of these days reach in the same afternoon.
